Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites. The Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) – Surgical Pathology performs technical and clerical functions in support of the Surgical Pathology Laboratory. Responsibilities include accessioning support, specimen handling, grossing assistance for simple specimens, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, frozen section support, Digital processes slide preparation, staining procedures, quality control activities, laboratory information system documentation, slide and block management, and support of pathologists and pathology trainees. Will perform laboratory tests pursuant to established and approved protocols, requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. Maintain equipment and records; perform quality control and quality assurance related to test performance. The Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) ensures compliance with CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH, OSHA, Joint Commission, and institutional requirements while maintaining specimen integrity and turnaround times.
