About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor will supervise the assigned staff. Maintains the operation of the section to meet minimum standards of laboratory accrediting agencies. Oversees clinical lab functions as assigned. Serve as network technical specialist in assigned area of expertise (Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Support Services).

Requirements

  • MLS/MT/MLT (ASCP) or eligible.
  • Minimum of two years clinical laboratory experience
  • Two years supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the assigned staff.
  • Manages the selection/training/orientation/competence and continuing education of laboratory staff; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions
  • Ensures all assigned policies and procedures meet the requirements of network and lab accrediting agencies
  • Supervises the maintenance of instrumentation and ensures that resources are available for troubleshooting technical and instrument operations
  • Ensures that the quality of testing is maintained according to laboratory policy and complies with licensing and accrediting agencies
  • Shares in the preparation of the daily work schedule to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Adjusts staffing to accommodate unscheduled staffing concerns
  • Ensures proficiency testing meets laboratory accrediting agencies’ standards
  • Maintains effective communication within the department
  • Delegates responsibilities and duties to employees so the section runs smoothly in supervisor’s absence
  • With Laboratory Quality Manager, maintains a Quality Management process/program to document performance and resolve system problems and service complaints
  • Maintains current technical/scientific knowledge.
