The laboratory scientist is responsible for performing patient testing, encompassing the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases. This role requires adherence to CLIA'88 minimum qualifications and involves executing a variety of microscopic, molecular, chemical, and bacteriological tests. The scientist will also provide guidance to Providers on pre-test requirements, answer testing-related questions, assess result validity, maintain proper records, and finalize test reporting. Ensuring that testing methods comply with established quality control procedures and assisting in the preparation of laboratory reports are key duties. Additionally, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for organizing and maintaining reagents and equipment, performing equipment maintenance, and ensuring the laboratory is clean and organized. They will utilize the laboratory information system (LIS) for data entry, report generation, and retrieving test results for physicians. Established safety and quality of patient care protocols will be followed.
