About The Position

Under the direction of the Director, Laboratory Supervisor, or Lead CLS, the CLS performs technical procedures with little or no direct supervision in any area of the clinical laboratory, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, and Urinalysis. The role requires performing and reporting timely and accurate test results to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment. Duties include clerical tasks, computer usage, and related laboratory services. The position involves working with potentially infectious blood and body fluid specimens and requires competence in assessing and meeting the needs of patients of all age groups or contacting appropriate hospital resources for guidance. A working knowledge of CLIA, FDA, and Agency standards is necessary. Additional duties, shifts, or department rotations may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • B.S. or equivalent in medical technology or biological sciences
  • Current CA CLS License
  • 0-3 years experience in a hospital or reference laboratory
  • Working knowledge of LIS
  • Experience with automated laboratory instruments
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or certification
  • Generalist experience in all areas of laboratory
