About The Position

Bartlett Regional Hospital is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our Laboratory team! This role has multiple levels (CLS 1, CLS 2, CLS 3) with increasing responsibilities and experience requirements. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist 1 is the entry-level position, performing laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens while developing proficiency in instrumentation, quality assurance, and departmental procedures. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist 2 independently performs clinical laboratory testing and analysis, exercises professional judgment, and serves as a resource to staff. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist 3 acts as a senior technical resource and leader, responsible for advanced testing, complex problem resolution, quality management, and staff development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related science.
  • ASCP MLS/MT certification or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of laboratory experience performing testing in a medical setting (for CLS 2).
  • Three (3) years of laboratory experience performing testing in a medical setting (for CLS 3).
  • Produce a negative drug screen for all illegal substances in the State of Alaska prior to the start of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens.
  • Develop proficiency in laboratory instrumentation, quality assurance, and departmental procedures.
  • Learn the operational and technical requirements of assigned laboratory sections.
  • Demonstrate competency in clinical testing methodologies.
  • Independently perform clinical laboratory testing and analysis across assigned laboratory sections.
  • Exercise professional judgment in evaluating specimens, validating results, troubleshooting instrument issues, and resolving routine technical problems.
  • Serve as a resource to laboratory staff.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and departmental operations.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource and laboratory leader.
  • Perform advanced testing and complex problem resolution.
  • Manage quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to staff development and process improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership across laboratory operations.
  • Serve as subject matter experts for assigned laboratory disciplines.
