This position is responsible for performing waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA. The individual must adhere to laboratory procedures for sample collection, processing, analysis, and reporting. They must also follow quality control policies, identify and correct or report problems with test performance, and perform a variety of laboratory procedures using both manual and automated methods across multiple disciplines including Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Immunology. Maintenance of instruments and equipment, review of patient results for accuracy, and recognition of age-specific differences in expected results are also key responsibilities. The role may involve performing venipuncture or capillary puncture, assisting in policy development, and adhering to all department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness. In the absence of a supervisor, the individual may be assigned Lead Tech responsibilities. Additional responsibilities may include LIS and/or POC tasks, and other duties assigned by management.
