About The Position
Barstow Community Hospital is a community medical provider serving the High Desert area with inpatient and outpatient services, including medical, surgical, and emergency care. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs a variety of laboratory tests across multiple areas of the laboratory, including high-complexity tests as defined by CLIA. Following procedures established by Section Heads and medical directors, the CLS is responsible for the accuracy and reporting of results and applies professional judgment, laboratory principles and techniques, computer proficiency, microscopic proficiency, and effective communication skills. This is a per-diem (PRN) position with 12-hour day shifts.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in biological or chemical sciences as required for California state licensure.
- Completion of an accredited Clinical Laboratory Scientist program with the requisite internship.
- Valid and current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
- Provide the original or original duplicate license upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests across multiple laboratory areas, including high-complexity tests as defined by CLIA.
- Follow procedures established by Section Heads and medical directors.
- Ensure the accuracy and reporting of test results.
- Apply professional judgment, laboratory principles and techniques, computer proficiency, microscopic proficiency, and communication skills.
