Clinical Laboratory Scientist
About The Position
Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at the Togus Va Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour days from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. The role involves performing a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex ones, and requires the ability to recognize and correct deviations from expected results using scientific principles. The position also entails evaluating and solving problems related to biological specimen collection and processing, and maintaining laboratory equipment through calibration, malfunction identification, repair, and preventive maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree
- Certification from a nationally recognized accrediting agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT etc.)
- Minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex laboratory procedures.
- Recognize deviation from expected results and use scientific principles to analyze and correct problems.
- Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis accounting for physiologic processes and requirements.
- Maintain and document the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment.
- Use, calibrate, and identify malfunctions; repair and perform preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
