About The Position

At NorthBay Health, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is a staff-level position reporting directly to the Supervisor, Laboratory Director, and the Medical Director. This role is assigned to perform, interpret, and report accurate and timely laboratory testing in assigned sections of the laboratory, adhering to standard operating procedures, policies, and state and federal laboratory laws. This position may also supervise technicians and other non-independent practitioners. The role requires critical thinking skills and the ability to make independent judgments based on knowledge of laboratory medicine and disease processes.

Requirements

Graduation from an approved school of medical technology.
State of California Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
Meets state and federal requirements for supervising the performance of high complexity laboratory testing as outlined in CLIA 88 and the State Title for Laboratories.
Phlebotomy skills.
Basic medical terminology.
Typing skills.
Math skills.
Computer skills.
Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

B.S. degree.
ASCP or equivalent certification.
Three years as a registered technologist in an acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

Perform, interpret, and report accurate and timely laboratory testing in assigned sections of the laboratory.
Adhere to standard operating procedures and policies.
Comply with state and federal laboratory law.
Supervise technicians and other non-independent practitioners.
Use critical thinking skills and make independent judgments based on knowledge of laboratory medicine and disease processes.
Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.
