About The Position

This position is for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS/Medical Technologist MT or Medical Laboratory Technician MLT PRN in Marion, SC. The role involves performing a wide variety of duties in the laboratory, including moderate and high complexity testing on blood and various body fluid specimens. The individual will work in different areas of the laboratory such as Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate test results through instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control, utilizing the Laboratory Information System (LIS), maintaining records, coordinating with phlebotomy and hospital staff for proper sample collection, troubleshooting equipment and methods, and training new employees and students. The role also requires communicating patient results and issues to medical or nursing staff, providing good customer service, and handling emergency situations effectively. Other duties may be assigned by a Supervisor or Laboratory Director.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Moderate and High Complexity Testing on blood and all types of body fluid specimens.
  • Ability to work in various areas of the Laboratory (i.e. Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, etc.)
  • Insure accurate and reliable test results by adhering to instrument maintenance, calibration and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to properly use Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements
  • Coordinates with phlebotomy and other hospital staff to ensure proper collection of patient samples
  • Troubleshoot problems with laboratory equipment, test methods, and sample collection
  • Trains new employees and students on laboratory methods, instruments, and policies
  • Ability to communicate patient results and/or problems to Medical or Nursing Staff
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure of emergency situation
  • Other duties assigned by Supervisor or Laboratory Director
