About The Position

The Certified Laboratory Assistant assists Laboratory Scientists in the daily operations of the Clinical Laboratory. This role involves performing phlebotomy procedures and managing non-technical patient testing tasks under direct supervision—including specimen processing and laboratory informatics. Additionally, the Laboratory Assistant ensures a clean, organized, and fully stocked environment to maintain safe, efficient, high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• CPT-1 or CPT-2 certification required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
• Thorough, meticulous, and detail-oriented.
• Possesses strong time management and prioritization capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of venipuncture, including heel-stick and finger-stick procedures.
• Utilize proper aseptic techniques when executing patient care procedures.
• Identify and select appropriate specimens based on test requests, protocol knowledge, or research.
• Handle specimen collection, labeling, and processing accurately and securely.
• Complete laboratory documentation, including patient requisitions, reference lab requisitions, billing demographics review, daily checklists, temperature logs, and monthly/annual records.
