About The Position

Provides phlebotomy and basic laboratory testing for the patient population, as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. This is a non-exempt position.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid state driver’s license.
Current BLS certificate.
Adept at venipuncture, phlebotomy and finger sticks.
Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
Effective interpersonal skills and compassion.
Analyzing information, critical thinking, and problem solving.
Knowledge of infection control procedures.

Nice To Haves

Completion of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory assistant training program or comparable on-the-job training is preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience as a phlebotomist is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collects and/or prepares human samples for analysis in a timely, efficient manner.
Stocks laboratory supplies in the laboratory and on the nursing units.
Transports specimens to laboratory testing facility.
Uses computer to log in patients samples, perform inquiries and print summaries.
Performs basic preventative maintenance, such as temperature checks.
Exhibits knowledge of basic development of patients.
Provides age specific data on patients.
Communicates with the family or significant other of the patients, when necessary.
Maintains the highest level of customer service via courtesy, compassion and positive communication.
Promotes the mission and vision of PAM Health within the work environment and the community.
Respects dignity and confidentiality by adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
Works in a manner that promotes safety; wears clothing appropriate to the performance of the job.
Participates in OSHA required training.
Follows universal precautions as appropriate for position; complies with Employee Health requirements for continued employment.
Reports unsafe practices to management.
Knows own role in case of an emergency.
