About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist generalist to join its team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. The role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs an important part of clinical laboratory science, helping deliver information that supports patient care. The schedule is third shift, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with a rotating weekend every third week. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available to external applicants only.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
At least 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience, or an MLS degree.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
Computer proficiency.
Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

ASCP or AMT certification.
At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) generalist, including hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis.

Responsibilities

Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions related to testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
Assist with specimen processing when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
