About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technician to join their team at Ascension Saint Thomas River Park in McMinnville, TN. This is a Per Diem/PRN position, meaning hours will be "as needed" with varying start and end times. Availability to cover 3rd shift is required. The role involves performing routine and complex technical procedures, operating and troubleshooting instrumentation, and making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. The technician will also prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents, report accurate test results, perform preventive maintenance and quality control, replenish supplies, and assist with specimen processing. Maintaining a safe work environment and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment are also key responsibilities. This role operates in a high-volume, production-based environment and is a vital component of clinical lab science.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
  • 3 or more years of clinical MLT generalist experience
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of clinical blood bank experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
