Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
Tennessee Medical Laboratory Supervisor License or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire
5 or more years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician
ASCP Certification
Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience as a Point of Care Lead/Coordinator/Specialist
One or more years of prior leadership experience
In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing waived and moderate complexity point-of-care testing
Provide training and ongoing support to nursing and clinical staff
Develops, coordinates, and documents training and competency assessments for nursing and clinical staff performing POC testing.
Collaborates with laboratory leadership, nursing leadership, and clinical departments to implement new testing platforms and workflow improvements.
Serves as the subject matter expert for POC testing policies, procedures, and best practices.
Manages POC instrumentation, including validation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and serves as a key resource for troubleshooting
Identify and replenish testing supplies, reagents, and inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
Conducts regular rounding on patient care units to support nursing staff, troubleshoot point-of-care testing issues, and ensure adherence to quality and competency standards.
Monitors quality control, proficiency testing, and corrective actions to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Reviews quality metrics, compliance reports, and testing records to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Investigates testing discrepancies, quality events, and non-compliance issues and implements corrective actions.
Participates in regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation surveys related to point-of-care testing.
