Assures the validity of test results by applying criteria for specimen rejection and demonstrating knowledge of Quality Control, calibration, and standardization of instruments. The role involves exercising good judgment and proper interpretation of Quality Control data, troubleshooting instruments, performing routine preventive maintenance, and demonstrating proficiency with the laboratory computer system for ordering, verifying results, and understanding downtime procedures. The Clinical Lab Scientist must be familiar with applicable laboratory laws and regulations, participate in training new employees, and demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care for infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. This includes identifying additional safety measures, understanding physiological normal values, assessing risks, and communicating effectively. The position also requires incorporating the HPMC mission of "quality care with compassion and respect" into daily performance, communicating problems to the Supervisor, responding acceptably to priority test specifications, and understanding and verbalizing Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) goals. The individual is accountable for achieving core measures, HCAHPS, and other VBP goals, consistently supporting compliance and the Code of Conduct by maintaining privacy and confidentiality, protecting assets, acting with integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
