About The Position

The Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS), under general supervision, is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, result review and reporting of results. Each CLS only performs those tests for which they are authorized and have demonstrated the required skill commensurate with their education, training and technical abilities. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the life sciences or an equivalent field of study
  • Knowledge of medical lab standard operating procedures, types of software used, and equipment
  • Ability to perform complex clinical lab tests and interpret and analyze data
  • Ability to determine the clinical significance of test results
  • Able to use and maintain specialized lab equipment needed to perform all lab procedures
  • Must be able to articulate logical and well-founded arguments that support conclusions
  • Exhibit excellent dexterity and analytical skills
  • Able to read
  • Able to write legibly
  • Able to speak in English with professional quality
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position
  • Able to operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others

  • California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist MTA license is required
  • For Histocompatibility, a California Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist MTR license is acceptable
  • For Clinical Cytogenetics, a California Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist (CCGS) MTO license is required

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience working as a clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) in a complex medical laboratory
