About The Position

The Clinical Lab Scientist will work in the clinical laboratory at an acute care, Magnet-designated hospital with 426 staffed beds. The role is primarily focused on blood bank testing in a high-volume environment, with approximately 30–50 samples per day and substantial type-and-screen and crossmatch work. The scientist must be able to work independently and confidently overnight. The scheduled start time is 9:30 p.m., with a possible adjustment to 8:00 p.m. as needed. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts on varied days, with rotating weekends and holidays; weekends may be scheduled more often than every other weekend to meet unit needs. The facility may call off once per two-week pay period. No on-call duty or floating is required. Applicants must provide daytime Pacific Time interview availability when submitting and include any requested time breakdown across laboratory specialties. RTO requests must be included at submission; scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience.
Recent or current blood bank experience within the past 2 years.
Blood bank traveler experience; seasoned travelers are required.
Experience working in a large hospital with 300 or more beds.
Experience with blood bank software; any blood bank software is acceptable.
Ability to work fully independently at night.
ASCP-BB certification.
First-time travelers are not accepted.
