The Clinical Lab Scientist II performs waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA. Responsibilities include adhering to laboratory procedures for test collection, processing, analysis, and reporting, following quality control policies, identifying and correcting test performance issues, and performing a wide variety of laboratory procedures using both manual and automated methods in various disciplines. The role also involves performing and documenting instrument maintenance, reviewing patient result accuracy, recognizing age-specific differences in expected results, ensuring proper handling of proficiency testing samples, and potentially performing venipuncture or capillary puncture. Additionally, the position may assist in developing laboratory policies, adhering to safety and hospital procedures, acting as a Lead Tech in the absence of a supervisor, and assisting with LIS and/or POC responsibilities. Other tasks may be assigned by management.
