About The Position

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, also referred to as a Medical Technologist (Med Tech) or Medical Laboratory Technologist I. The Clinical Lab Scientist I (CLS I) requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team. They play an important role in the diagnostic process, contributing significantly to patient care and treatment. Mission Regional Medical Center is a 297-bed, non-profit hospital that provides inpatient and outpatient hospital services to the people of the Rio Grande Valley. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
• One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
• If you are a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or if you will be obtaining your ASCP certification in MLS, MT, or MLT within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions, this may include routine tests as well as specialized tests
• Interpret lab test results and identify any abnormalities, ensure the accuracy and reliability of these results to assist doctors in making informed decisions about patient care
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain high standards in laboratory testing, you may also calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
• Keep accurate and detailed records of all laboratory tests performed and their results, input data into our laboratory information systems
• Ensure all laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation requirements
