About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, this position is responsible for the daily operation of the clinical laboratory. The Clinical Lab Manager assists the Director with all compliance, quality assurance, and LIS issues. This role provides overall technical and supervisory direction to ensure that laboratory services comply with standards established by Laboratory Services, CAP, AABB, FDA, OSHA, and JCAHO. The manager ensures that established policies, procedures, and documentation are performed relating to sample collection, specimen testing, proficiency testing, quality control and assurance, competency testing, lab safety and infection control, and inventory control. The position effectively directs and controls all laboratory activities to ensure quality laboratory services while ensuring the effective use of hospital supplies and resources. The manager adheres to Laboratory Services and hospital policies and procedures for safety, standard precautions, chemical hygiene, and exposure control and quality assurance. They ensure that all equipment and instrumentation is maintained in proper condition and that preventive maintenance is performed and documented. The manager also ensures that established policies, procedures, and documentation are performed related to laboratory billing practices. This role demonstrates the ability to manage information systems projects in the assigned functional area to provide automated solutions. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training new employees. The manager ensures timely, relevant, and effective communication with staff and provides a forum for staff to discuss ideas, concerns, and potential decisions. They coordinate team efforts to maintain and/or implement changes in work processes to ensure high-quality outcomes and meet established success indicators. The manager establishes appropriate performance expectations, job standards, and competencies, and maintains a system for evaluating the effectiveness and performance of staff. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree - Science
  • 10 years of experience in Clinical Laboratory
  • At least 5 years in a manager position
  • CA Clinical laboratory Sciences license
