About The Position

Reporting to the Pharmacist in Charge, the Clinical Intervention Center Pharmacist (CIC RPh) plays a critical role in the healthcare industry by ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. The primary responsibilities of the CIC RPh involve monitoring clinical clarifications, change in prescriptions, backorders and anything else that would hinder the dispensing of medication to a patient. They are also responsible for communication with nursing centers and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Predictable, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job role. The CIC RPh should be able to perform all functions of a staff pharmacist as well as those functions listed below. Duties are assigned for multiple pharmacies. Responsible for monitoring and following up on clinical clarifications utilizing eMAR system, dispensing history, and direct communication with the center. Should clear old pending clarifications from queue based on new orders received or non-responsiveness by profiling or deleting orders. Review and approve Change in Prescription suggestions based on payer preference utilizing the ECS message and test claims. Review and Approve therapeutic interchange suggestions for non-auto TI states. Communicate national backorder issues with center. Determine if alternative orders are required or for short term out of stock issues, utilizing backup pharmacies. Respond to email and other electronic communication (internal and external) including requests for RX Verify control withdrawals (if appropriately licensed). Review emergency CII prescriptions and contact the center or MD to ensure timely receipt of hardcopies. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy
  • Active State Pharmacist license
  • State license to handle medication
  • 1-3 years of pharmaceutical experience
  • Intermediate proficiency with Pharmacy and medication distribution software (Pyxis Medbank, Frameworks)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as medication documentation, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively, both in person and by telephone, to customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to understand and interpret statistical reports, data charts and graphs
