About The Position

The Resiliency Center Intern will assist with the daily functions of the Intake and Resiliency Center Department. Interns will administer assessments as assigned by Sr. Director of Resiliency Center and Intake Staff or onsite supervisor. The Clinical intern will also provide counseling and administer assessments as assigned by the staff of the Resiliency center; assist clients with the planning and implementing of counseling goals and treatment plans. All duties must be undertaken under the close supervision and guidance of the counseling and intake staff. Interns are expected to make ethical decisions by applying the standards of the NASW Code of Ethics and code of ethics for Counseling. They must complete all training as assigned by Internship Development Program staff, on-site supervisor, and school requirements. Interns will complete pre-screenings, intakes and follow ups as needed with potential residents and their families for intake and other Metropolitan Ministries Programs. Interns will administer comprehensive assessments to determine clients’ needs. For those placed in West Pasco, the Intern will provide support to Case Management programs such as Residential Case Management, Housing and Employment. This includes meeting one to one with clients on a weekly basis, completing case plans, and other assigned tasks. Interns will develop and implement appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans for assigned clients and present case presentation forms for supervisor for all new clients or client case updates. They will attend weekly supervision with their site supervisor and accurately enter and maintain data, case notes, and other information into required database systems such as TheraNest, Dynamics, HMIS. Maintaining files, case notes, and histories for all assigned clients by keeping needed materials organized and confidential according to Code of Ethics is also required. Interns must update their Supervisor of case load and client assignment needs and provide counseling for clients as determined by Internship Development Program administration. Maintaining professional boundaries and becoming knowledgeable about appropriate DSM-5 diagnosis, diagnostic assessments, criteria in treatment of clients, community resources, program requirements, and expectations for services are essential. Providing group counseling for assigned groups is also part of the role. Secondary responsibilities include assisting with other Metropolitan Ministries Programs to understand their functions and how to assist clients, as well as providing psychoeducational groups as needed. Regular attendance during scheduled intern times is expected, with notification to the on-site supervisor and affected co-workers if unable to attend as planned. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor or counseling staff.

Requirements

• Must be seeking a degree in Master of Social Work or mental health counseling, marriage, and family counseling, behavioral or social science field or related area from an accredited university.
• Must be willing and eager to learn about homeless issues, individuals with mental health/substance abuse issues and community resources.
• Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
