Clinical Intake Specialist RN
About The Position
This role involves conducting comprehensive clinical intake assessments and reviews for new and prospective patients. The specialist will triage inbound referrals, evaluate clinical eligibility, and determine urgency to route patients appropriately. Collaboration with physicians, infusion nurses, and billing/intake specialists is key to ensuring smooth care transitions. The position requires reviewing clinical documentation for compliance with prior authorizations, insurance requirements, and regulatory standards, as well as maintaining accurate documentation in the EHR system. Patient education on care expectations, appointments, and treatment plans is also a core responsibility.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan (or Compact License).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience (intake, triage, utilization review, home health, or outpatient clinical specialty preferred).
- Strong clinical assessment capabilities
- Excellent verbal/written communication
- Proficiency with EHR software and office technology.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical intake assessments and reviews of medical histories for new and prospective patients.
- Triage inbound referrals, evaluate clinical eligibility, and determine urgency to route patients to the appropriate care pathways.
- Partner closely with physicians, infusion nurses, and billing/intake specialists to ensure smooth care transitions and onboarding.
- Review clinical documentation to ensure compliance with prior authorizations, insurance requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Provide patient education regarding care expectations, initial appointments, and next steps in their treatment plan.
