About The Position

The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing seeks part-time Clinical Instructors for clinical teaching activities. These positions are assigned teaching effort only. Clinical Instructors collaborate with the Associate Deans for Graduate and Undergraduate Education, program directors, and coordinators to develop teaching plans tailored to their goals and the School’s needs. They contribute to innovative educational activities that maintain and enhance Emory’s academic excellence. Contracts are for one semester, with renewal based on a performance evaluation at the end of the contract. Preferential appointments are made for candidates with or pursuing a terminal degree and those with teaching experience.

The position must be performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. Candidates must complete a criminal background investigation, drug screening, and other compliance requirements before their first day of employment.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
• Eligibility for Georgia licensure and, if appropriate, advanced practice licensure.
• Completion of a criminal background investigation, drug screening, and other compliance requirements before the first day of employment.
• Submit a cover letter describing interest in an academic position, clinical and teaching expertise, and accomplishments; a current curriculum vitae; and contact information for three references.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, supervision, and evaluation of student performance in clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings.
• Deliver education in collaboration with the Course Coordinator, following approved course syllabi, objectives, outlines, and assignments.
• Supervise and evaluate groups of students, usually 6–10, in clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the Course Coordinator and attend all course team meetings.
• Complete NHWSN and clinical agency faculty orientations and comply with clinical-site requirements.
• Coordinate with clinicians at the clinical site to deliver and evaluate clinical education.
• Maintain a collaborative, positive relationship with clinical agency staff.
• Schedule regular meetings with students to provide academic feedback.
• Maintain student records.
