About The Position

Johnson County Community College is seeking a part-time clinical instructor to teach in the area of Med/Surg, in the acute care hospital setting, starting in the fall 2026 term. The clinical instructor will work with a group of 3rd semester ADN students at a clinical agency setting one (1) day a week. This individual may be asked to be available for on campus activities as needed, which may fall on a day other than their assigned clinical day.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a BSN and requisite experience will be considered.
  • Active single-state RN licenses in both Kansas and Missouri, or an active Multi-state RN license.
  • Current registered nursing experience in the area being taught.
  • A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience within the last five years.
  • Ability to multitask; process multiple sources of information quickly.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work closely with students, collaborating with agency nurses and staff, to ensure a quality, hands-on learning experience in either an acute care, inpatient medical/surgical or maternal-child/pediatric setting.
  • Comfort and competency with utilizing a computer or other electronic device to access the nursing course(s) in the learning management system, and document in the online evaluation tools utilized in the program.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior clinical teaching experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • One (1) to three (3) years relevant teaching experience in prelicensure nursing education.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students with the ability to provide constructive feedback documented on formative and summative evaluation tools.
