About The Position

The Department of Teaching and Educational Studies (TES) in the School of Education (SOE) at Idaho State University is seeking to hire for a 9-month Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Instructor position; this is a non-tenure track position. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026. This position will serve ISU's Pocatello, Twin Falls, and Idaho Falls locations, and be based in Pocatello. The clinical faculty member will lead the undergraduate and graduate Career and Technical Education (CTE) Educator Preparation program, and liaise with the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education (IDCTE) and other post-secondary CTE institutions in Idaho. The clinical faculty member will also serve as advisor for student career and leadership organizations. Contractual responsibilities may include meetings and events outside of the Pocatello area. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education or appropriately related field (clinical instructor level)
  • Three years of successful teaching experience within CTE in public secondary schools
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Education or a related field (clinical assistant professor level)
  • Experience leading and coordinating Career Technical Education programs, including curriculum development and alignment
  • Experience teaching, advising Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO), and supervising clinical field experiences in secondary and/or postsecondary CTE settings
  • Knowledge of the functions of the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education
  • Experience designing and teaching asynchronous online courses in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the CTE program
  • Use varied instructional modalities, primarily asynchronous online, with potential options for synchronous, face-to-face, hybrid, or HyFlex delivery
  • Serve as the advisor for student clubs, e.g., Business Professionals of America (BPA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), etc.
  • Participate in departmental, school, college, and university service
  • Support the recruitment and retention efforts of CTE programs through advising activities
  • Strong commitment to teaching and service initiatives as set forth by the department, school, college, and university
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and constituents to promote and enhance the profile and reputation of the ISU School of Education.
  • Submit annual program assessment reports, CTE program reports for accreditation, and prepare and submit requests for funding proposals (RFPs) to secure funding through the IDCTE.
