About The Position

Vermont State University (VTSU) is seeking part-time clinical instructors to support prelicensure nursing programs. These programs include the Practical Nursing (PN) certificate, Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Opportunities are available throughout Vermont, and at select locations in New York and New Hampshire. The Clinical Instructor will work collaboratively with nursing faculty to achieve learning outcomes, facilitating student learning and supporting the integration of nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, and professional practice behaviors across various healthcare and educational settings. This role serves as an educator, role model, mentor, and liaison between VTSU and affiliated healthcare agencies, fostering a positive and effective learning environment that promotes student success, patient safety, and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Candidates with a BSN who enroll in an MSN program and are projected to finish within 3 years will be considered.
  • A current, unencumbered Registered Nursing license in each state where instructional responsibilities will occur.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in clinical instruction and simulation-based training are preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical judgment frameworks, evidence-based practice, and NCLEX preparation.
  • Recent clinical practice in a setting associated with the position you are applying for.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating student performance in clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings
  • Facilitating the integration and application of classroom concepts to patient-centered care
  • Promoting safe, ethical, and evidence-based professional nursing practice
  • Providing timely feedback, coaching, and evaluation of student learning
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of student performance
  • Communicating effectively with course faculty, program leadership, and clinical agency personnel
  • Supporting compliance with university, program, accreditation, and clinical agency requirements
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and success
