About The Position

The Clinical Informatics Educator serves as a key liaison between clinical staff, operational leaders, and Information Systems. This position is responsible for optimizing the use of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), supporting clinical workflow improvements, providing education and training, and ensuring staff are effectively utilizing technology to support patient care and organizational goals. The Clinical Informatics Educator combines clinical expertise, education, and informatics knowledge to enhance documentation practices, promote EMR adoption, and increase operational efficiency. This individual works closely with clinicians and leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions that improve both the user experience and quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Social Worker, or other licensed healthcare professional required.
  • Minimum of three years of hospice, home health, or healthcare experience required.
  • Experience using electronic medical records required.
  • Strong understanding of hospice clinical operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of EMR systems and clinical documentation workflows.
  • Excellent presentation, training, and communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and support staff with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Skilled in process improvement and workflow analysis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Informatics, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with hospice EMR systems (e.g., Netsmart, WellSky, Homecare Homebase) preferred.
  • Previous training, education, quality, compliance, or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in clinical informatics or process improvement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary clinical resource for EMR support, troubleshooting, and workflow guidance.
  • Assist clinicians and staff with EMR-related questions, issues, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the CIO and department leaders to identify opportunities for EMR optimization.
  • Participate in EMR enhancement projects, upgrades, testing, and implementation activities.
  • Monitor system utilization and user adoption to ensure effective use of available tools and functionality.
  • Develop and maintain EMR documentation standards and workflows.
  • Participates in quality assessment and projects that improve quality of care documentation.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of forms, templates, assessments, reports, and clinical documentation tools.
  • Evaluate clinical workflows and recommend system improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver EMR training programs for new hires and existing staff.
  • Build collaborative relationships with all departments to ensure successful implementation of clinical technology solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day support for clinical applications, mobile devices, tablets, printers, and related workflow technologies.
  • Assist with EMR onboarding and offboarding activities, including system access requests, account setup, and user orientation.
