This role involves providing clinical services for patients at Children’s Hospital and other approved sites. The position requires allocating 90% of effort to clinical activities and 10% to non-clinical activities. Key responsibilities include overseeing the medical care team, managing direct patient care for a specified patient population, improving continuity of care, customer service, and partnerships with community medical providers through timely completion of records and communication. The role also emphasizes active participation in family-centered care, professional and compassionate communication, referring patients to specialists and ancillary services, and appropriately utilizing the chain of command. Responsibilities extend to responding promptly and respectfully to team members and outside medical providers, communicating clear expectations to trainees regarding patient updates and clinical changes, and encouraging questions. The position also involves contributing to advocacy initiatives, scholarly efforts for public policy advancement in pediatric health, teaching patients and families about treatment and prevention, and participating in health promotion programs. Educational commitments include participating in medical education programs, learning activities with colleagues and trainees, hospital/university-wide educational programs, and local, regional, and national educational efforts. Providing timely feedback to trainees, ensuring adequate orientation, and effectively supervising and training clinical professionals and students are also crucial. Furthermore, the role requires adherence to established bylaws, policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety standards. Prompt and adequate completion of clinical documentation, identification and recommendation for improvement of patient services, cooperation in policy development, participation in committees, and evaluation of patient care according to protocol are expected. Peer and support staff evaluation, acknowledgment and reporting of errors, and participation in error prevention efforts are also part of the role.
