About The Position

This position is for a Clinical Hospital Advisor RN/Nurse at HNL Lab Medicine, a leading, full-service medical laboratory headquartered in Allentown, Pennsylvania. HNL Lab Medicine provides testing and related services to physician offices, hospitals, long-term care facilities, employers, and industrial accounts, operating over 50 patient service centers in Pennsylvania. The company generates more than 63 million clinical and anatomic pathology results for approximately 3 million patients and 15,000 healthcare providers annually, with a staff of over 2,022 employees, including 109 board-certified pathologists and scientific directors and over 400 certified lab scientists and phlebotomists. The role involves travel throughout the Philadelphia region to promote HNL’s laboratory testing services, including clinical and anatomic pathology, and to gain commitment from health system partner hospitals to use HNL services. The advisor will work closely with the Manager, Clinical Advisors and Chief Hospital Officer to execute strategic plans, collaborate with internal departments to provide service solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction by acting as the primary contact. Key responsibilities also include identifying areas for education, improvement, and efficiency related to lab testing, providing in-service training, developing relationships with clients through on-site visits, educating clients on proper lab test ordering, and communicating industry trends and competitive information. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; or Associates Degree (A.A./A.Sc.), one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with no recent history of suspension.
  • Clinical background is required (RN, BSN, PA-C, CRNP, etc.).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in Word processing, E-mail, Database software, spreadsheets, and Outlook.
  • A valid driver’s license from the state that the employee resides.

Responsibilities

  • Travels throughout assigned territory, making personal contact with key staff at health system partner hospitals in order to promote HNL’s laboratory testing services, including clinical and anatomic pathology.
  • Gains commitment from these clients to use HNL services.
  • Works closely with the Manager, Clinical Advisors and Chief Hospital Officer to execute strategic plans for Jefferson and other health system partner hospitals to meet and exceed company goals.
  • Collaborates with the internal departments of HNL Lab Medicine to provide service solutions to meet the hospital clients’ needs and requirements.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by acting as the clients’ primary contact; provides effective communication of customer needs across departments.
  • Works closely with the clinical and anatomic pathology teams to identify areas of opportunity for education, improvement, and efficiency as it relates to lab testing across the hospitals.
  • Acquire and analyze relevant data, and recommend evidence-based interventions to support these areas.
  • Displays/demonstrates lab services through use of company literature that emphasizes features and benefits of HNL Lab Medicine testing services.
  • Provides detailed “in-service”/training to hospital units or departments as needed or at the request of clients.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key laboratory colleagues and clients through regular and routine on-site visits and utilizes these visits to ascertain a level of satisfaction with HNL.
  • Educates clients on proper lab test ordering to meet clinical needs and regularly seeks additional business opportunities.
  • Regularly communicates relevant information regarding industry trends, new business opportunities, threats to existing clients and competitive information to Manager, Clinical Advisors.
  • Performs the following on a daily basis: processes all outstanding assigned tasks and records all Client Opportunities and maintains accurate information throughout the complete sales cycle.
  • Investigates, participates in quality improvement projects, and resolves client issues/problems with HNL Lab Medicine services through the Patient Safety Event Review process or on an individual basis.
  • In conjunction with HNL’s marketing department, develops educational pieces required for hospital clients due to the specific nature of their inpatient testing needs.
