About The Position

The Clinical Fieldwork Supervisor provides instructional, supervisory, and operational support across three clinical education pathways: the medical internship program, the education internship program, and the undergraduate clinical training program. This position ensures consistent, high-quality supervision, timely feedback, and coordinated communication with clinical instructors and program faculty. Responsibilities include direct student supervision, DPI required observations, instructional duties, grading, and ongoing support for students and clinical partners. The role also includes flexible workload capacity to address the unpredictable, time-sensitive issues inherent to clinical education. Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license (or other such valid operator’s permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving on state business
  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology or a related field
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCCSLP)
  • Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services (DSPS) Speech Language Pathology License
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) License (or eligibility)
  • Experience supervising students in clinical settings

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing clinical support for medical internship students, including troubleshooting site issues and coordinating with clinical instructors
  • Lead synchronous medical discussion sessions and support the associated discussion course
  • Complete DPI required observations for education internship students, including one in person observation, one virtual observation, and one written summary per student
  • Travel to education sites for required in person observations
  • Provide ongoing clinical support for education internship students, including remediation, communication with site supervisors, and documentation of student progress
  • Support the education internship discussion course through assignment creation, grading, and weekly facilitation
  • Develop and grade weekly instructional modules for undergraduate clinicians
  • Conduct midterm meetings to review progress and set goals for undergraduate clinicians
  • Provide ongoing clinical support for undergraduate clinicians, including remediation and communication with supervisors
  • Facilitate weekly discussion courses for medical and education internship students
  • Create assignments
  • Provide individualized feedback
  • Maintain timely grading
  • Lead synchronous medical discussion sessions
  • Manage remediation plans as needed
  • Coordinate scheduling and documentation for midterms, observations, and student meetings
  • Maintain communication with clinical instructors and program faculty
  • Support program operations to ensure compliance with accreditation expectations and clinical education standards
  • Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time
  • Follow and enforce supervision standards
  • Monitor and support high-quality clinical education experiences
  • Maintain consistency and standardization across pathways (same processes, expectations, documentation, strategies)
  • Travel between education sites
  • Work performed on the UW-Milwaukee campus
