About The Position

The Clinical Fellow experience will include regular observations, direct mentorship and supervision, and frequent opportunities to collaborate with the clinical supervisor. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Completion of all graduate internships and clinical hours
  • Flexibility, as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • New York State Driver’s License
  • Must work at least 36 weeks and 1,260 hours to meet the ASHA CF experience requirement.
  • Must meet with your clinical supervisor weekly.
  • Must maintain and update professional knowledge, skills, and abilities through appropriate continuing education, in-service training or higher education.
  • Must be able to modify the area to secure the safety of the adults i.e. move/push tables and other heavy objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift/move/carry 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to run after an individual up to 500 feet.
  • Must be able to run to a program in need up to 500 feet.
  • Must be able to kneel, twist and bend.
  • Must be able to respond to fire alarms.
  • Must be able to perform all physical SCIP techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Experience with AAC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide communication and feeding assessments, screenings, interventions, and services to individuals over the age of 21 in both day program and residential settings according to OPWDD guidelines and ASHA standards.
  • Train day program and residential staff on communication programs and safe feeding protocols.
  • Provide required documentation for assessments and services.
  • Attend pertinent meetings as scheduled.
  • Collaborate and maintain open communication with other professionals, staff, and families.
