About The Position

The Department of Leadership and Counseling at the University of Idaho is seeking a non-tenure track Clinical Faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to join our Educational Leadership team. This 9-month position is designed for a dynamic educator and practitioner committed to preparing future K-12 administrators, including principals, superintendents, and directors of special education. Key responsibilities include: Delivering high-quality instruction and mentorship Engaging in community outreach and service activities Contributing to program, department, and college-level committees and events We are seeking a candidate who can contribute significantly to our mission to develop effective educational leaders for Idaho’s schools and beyond. The role emphasizes teaching excellence with no research responsibilities. This position has a flexible work location; the candidate has the option of working out of our Boise, Coeur d’Alene, or Moscow campuses.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or closely related field.
  • Experience teaching courses or facilitating professional development workshops aligned to preparation standards and state certification requirements for principal, superintendent, and special education director positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of successful, contracted K-12 administrative experience as a principal, assistant principal, central office administrator, superintendent/assistant superintendent, or special education director/assistant director.
  • Recent leadership experience in building- or district-level roles, including mentoring or supervision of principals, special education programs, finance, HR, facilities, or school improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching online graduate-level educational leadership courses, including course design, assessment, and supervision of field-based learning.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with districts, state agencies, or cooperatives on leadership pipelines, accreditation, or improvement initiatives.
  • Expertise in one or more high-need domains: instructional leadership and MTSS ; special education law and compliance; school law and policy; data-informed improvement; budgeting and resource allocation; community engagement and board relations; facilities and operations.
  • Evidence of improving student outcomes, school/district systems, or special education compliance and services through prior leadership roles.
