About The Position

IU Health is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and self‑motivated Pediatric Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our outpatient pediatric cardiology and congenital heart disease program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives working independently, loves caring for children, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient‑centered care. You will play a key role in evaluating exercise capacity, supporting families, and improving the long‑term health of children with a wide range of cardiac conditions.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology or related field is required.
  • Requires 1-2 years of experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support through the AHA within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires strong ECG interpretation skills and advanced knowledge of exercise physiology in clinical populations.

Nice To Haves

  • ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) and/or AACVPR CCRP credential strongly is preferred.
  • Knowledge of complex congenital heart disease preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced outpatient cardiopulmonary exercise testing, exercise counseling, and cardiac rehabilitation services for children and adolescents with complex congenital heart disease.
  • Performs a wide range of specialized physiological tests designed for children, including those with complex congenital heart disease. Tailor’s protocols for conditions such as single-ventricle circulation, repaired Tetralogy of Fallot and transposition of the great arteries.
  • This role focuses on safe, developmentally appropriate physical activity in a clinic‑based environment, supporting long‑term cardiovascular health and functional capacity.
  • Designs, implements, and oversees physician-ordered exercise and lifestyle programs for children, adolescents and adults, including those with chronic illnesses or special health needs.
  • Delivers structured outpatient rehab sessions, including aerobics, strength and flexibility.
  • Educates families on activity restrictions, risk signs, and long-term fitness planning.
  • Provides expert leadership in all phases of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, ensuring safe, evidence-based care across the continuum.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to align care strategies.
  • Mentors Exercise Science staff and students.
  • Supports research, community outreach, and graded exercise testing.
  • Serves as a clinical leader and educator, advancing best practices in rehabilitation and chronic disease management.
