About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Engineering, the Clinical Equipment Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for routine repairs, inspecting, testing, and preventative maintenance for hospital equipment, including beds/stretchers, rehabilitation equipment, patient monitoring, and vital signs monitors throughout Parrish Healthcare’s organization. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 to 2 years hands-on work experience in a Hospital, experience with electrical/mechanical devices or third-party Service Organization.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that is acceptable to PMC’s corporate automobile insurance carrier. License will be screened prior to employment and at least annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hospital equipment, such as vital sign monitors, telemetry units, infusion pumps, patient beds, stretchers, and handheld consumables (i.e. thermometer, pulse oximeters, otoscope sets, etc.).
  • Assist in the maintenance of the RTLS, equipment tracking system, for medical equipment. Keep records of works performed on individual trackers, along with changing batteries when necessary.
  • Advise staff on proper use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Communicate with vendors, technicians, physicians, managers, and other internal customers regarding scheduling of maintenance and repairs, status, and follow-up.
  • Respond to major medical equipment failures that impact patient safety or patient care.
  • Utilize work order system to document works performed and equipment maintained. Create and complete work orders correctly. Enter clear comments and test results for work completed. Log time correctly.
  • Provide courteous service to visitors, patients, staff, vendors, and co-workers as part of the organization’s commitment to quality services. Practice good teamwork with all in the shop.
  • Keep work areas orderly, clean, and safe. Apply proper safety procedures in the use of tools, machinery, and supplies, including the use of appropriate safety equipment and apparel.
  • Communicate with third-party personnel/vendors regarding the scheduling of maintenance, repairs, and follow-ups on related subject matter.
  • Perform similar or related duties as assigned.
