About The Position

The Clinical Educator should exemplify and promote LifeMed Alaska’s standards of safety, culture, and accountability. This role works with the objectives and policies established by the VP of Clinical Operations & the Clinical Education Manager to prepare, provide, and evaluate in-house educational offerings and outreach education.

Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree (BSN, BEM, BSES, BAE, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience, including experience designing and delivering education and organizing training programs.
  • Five years of clinical and/or teaching experience required. A combination of education and experience will be accepted.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic in the State of Alaska.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy and procedure manuals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and effectively present information and respond to questions in a classroom setting.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and apply them to the situation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to other bases and participate in offsite training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the highest level of personal accountability are needed for this position.
  • Regular attendance is required for this position.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation, dissemination, and evaluation of educational offerings to both LifeMed Ground & Flight Operations.
  • Conduct clinical skills assessments, simulation-based training, and scenario-based evaluations to ensure staff proficiency and clinical readiness.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to identify educational needs and implement evidence-based training solutions.
  • Maintain and update training materials in alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in critical care transport.
  • Collaboration with other agencies and departments regarding education for improved staff development.
  • Instruct recertification classes as needed.
  • Participates in team development activities, including initial orientation and ongoing training.
  • Assists in the clinical development of LMA’s clinical program by supporting improvement projects and new initiatives.
  • Provides outreach activities and education within the constraints of resources available to LifeMed.
  • Encourages and supports improvement studies that can make meaningful contributions to the quality of education.
  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for staff during both routine and high-acuity transports.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, root cause analyses, and safety debriefings to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Assist in onboarding and precepting new staff, providing guidance on policies, protocols, and clinical decision-making.
  • Participates in Human Patient Simulation professional development activities.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, networking, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Assist with maintaining educational records, reports, or files.
