About The Position

The Clinical Educator Pulmonary Services role provides respiratory and clinical hospital teams with educational support, including needs assessments, and is involved in quality assurance/process improvement programs. Assists in the design and implementation of educational standards, onboarding, evidence-based practice, research, and OhioHealth policies. Serves as a coordinator for internal and external clinical affiliations. Maintains and develops personal clinical skills. Performs miscellaneous related duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • NRP1 - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - American Academy of Pediatrics
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - American Association for Respiratory Care
  • Field of study in respiratory care.
  • Knowledge of respiratory care technology.
  • Teaching skills and a minimum of three years’ clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates orientation of new employees.
  • Assesses specific education needs for general and specialized areas of respiratory care.
  • Determines objectives and sets priorities for educational activities.
  • Implements training and education programs.
  • Intervenes and provides feedback on clinical concerns as they arise.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation for associate files and all regulatory audits.
  • Provides reminders to staff as needed; informs manager /supervisors of any delinquencies.
  • Assists in developing protocols and monitors adherence to protocols.
  • Employs various teaching methodologies when appropriate.
  • Maintenance and development of personal clinical skills.
  • Maintains proficiency in critical care, neonatal, and general floor care.
  • Devotes designated time in patient care based on specific care site staffing plan.
  • Maintains knowledge of respiratory care equipment.
  • Stays knowledgeable of national trends and best practices.
  • Assesses clinical processes and gathers data.
  • Implements improvements and assesses impact.
  • Monitors processes for quality, service, and cost effectiveness.
  • Communicates program and outcomes to department staff and administration.
  • Participate in related hospital teams.
  • Coordinates quality assurance with laboratory to assure CAP certification for blood analyzation.
  • Coordinates clinical affiliations with area respiratory care programs.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with state licensing.
  • Serves on hospital committees as assigned.
  • Identifies aspects of care with potential for quality assurance indicators and assists in development for use.
  • Utilizes research findings for patient care planning and implementation in coordination with department leadership.
  • Participates in clinical research activities as they arise and act as clinical resource to associates.
  • As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
