The Clinical Documentation Manager is a subject matter expert within the Provider Support team and Risk Adjustment department, responsible for advancing clinical documentation integrity and ICD-10-CM coding accuracy across the enterprise. The role is part of the Clinical Documentation Integrity hub, which owns provider education materials, documentation guidance, and responses to questions escalated from the field. Working alongside Practice Consultants, the manager supports provider relationships through programs that improve risk score accuracy via practice workflow improvements and clinical documentation education. The role primarily enables the provider network support team rather than managing a dedicated portfolio of practices. The manager partners with leadership on coding guideline development, serves as a risk adjustment coding expert during internal and external audits, designs and iterates on reporting, and uses technology to scale impact. During peak audit seasons, a high percentage of time is spent supporting responses to external audits. This is an individual-contributor position with no direct reports, requiring independent work and management of priorities. The position requires 3 or more years of outpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity experience or 5 or more years of Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment coding or auditing experience, deep expertise in Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment (CMS-HCC), ICD-10-CM guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic guidance, and CMS regulations, and a current active professional credential through AAPC, AHIMA, or ACDIS. The salary range is $73,000–$115,000 per year. The organization states that its total rewards package is for full-time employees only.
