About The Position

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford is seeking a Clinical Documentation Manager to lead and empower the Clinical Documentation team. This role involves hiring, mentoring, and developing talent to create a high-performing environment. The manager will elevate patient care and organizational health by translating clinical data into strategic improvements that boost quality outcomes and accurate reimbursement. A key responsibility is championing clinical documentation excellence through engaging physician education, ensuring every patient's care story is accurately captured. The role also requires partnering across healthcare teams to streamline daily operations, solve workflow challenges, and ensure complete program compliance.

Requirements

  • One or more of the following required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Clinical Documentation Prof. credentialed from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

  • 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
