About The Position

The Clinical Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and clinical oversight of all behavioral health services, including therapy and case management programs. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services that meet regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards. The Clinical Director provides direct supervision to licensed therapists, case management staff (directly or through supervisors), and related clinical support services staff. The role is accountable for clinical outcomes, staff performance, program development, compliance, and continuous quality improvement across all service lines.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a closely related field required
  • LISW or LPCC in the State of Ohio required
  • Minimum of 8 years of working experience in program development, administrative functions, budgetary, quality and compliance or related area required
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience managing others required

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision to licensed therapists and oversight of case management services, ensuring adherence to scope of practice and best practices.
  • Serve as the clinical authority for assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and service delivery.
  • Review and approve clinical documentation, including diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure integration and coordination between therapy and case management services to support whole-person care.
  • Provide consultation on complex, high-risk, or crisis cases.
  • Maintain involvement in treatment team meetings and case reviews, providing guidance and decision-making support.
  • Directly supervise therapists and Care Coordinator Manager; oversee Care Coordinators through indirect supervisor.
  • Ensure Care Coordinators receive appropriate oversight, coaching, and direction aligned with program and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and retention efforts for clinical staff.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations, ongoing coaching, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor staff productivity, caseload distribution, and service utilization across therapy and case management teams.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans when standards are not met.
  • Oversee the daily operations of therapy and case management programs to ensure efficient, effective service delivery.
  • Manages the clinical on-call rotations.
  • Ensure staffing levels and schedules meet program and client needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design, implement, and expand clinical services and programs.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and execute clinical components of agency-wide goals.
  • Contribute to grant writing, reporting, and program development activities where needed.
  • Serve as the Client Rights Officer responsibilities, ensuring client rights are protected and grievances are addressed appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicaid, licensing boards, and accrediting entities.
  • Oversee clinical documentation standards and conduct regular chart audits.
  • Monitor and manage the Unusual Incident Report (UIR) process and follow-up actions.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Track and report clinical outcomes and program metrics (including grant-related reporting such as ADAMHS).
  • Develop and deliver new hire orientation training and ongoing training for all staff as needed.
  • Ensure all staff maintain current licensure, certifications, and required trainings.
  • Promote professional development, continuing education, and clinical excellence.
  • Provide education to internal teams and community partners as needed.
  • Provide direct clinical services in limited capacity to support program needs, including assessment, therapy, crisis intervention, and consultation.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide clinical guidance during emergencies.
