About The Position

The Clinical Director is responsible for providing 24-hour management of all clinical functions of the facility and overseeing the entire admission process and/or clinical intake process. He/she is also responsible for providing effective leadership to the clinical staff, has knowledge of the organization, provides marketing support for the facility, and directs all activities within the facility in accordance with standards of State and Federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or health-related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an applicable field.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission standards.
  • Must have two years of sobriety prior to hire, if recovering from a substance use disorder and participate in a self-help program.
  • Obtain a CAQH and/or NPI within two weeks of start date OR obtain within two weeks of receipt date if licensure is received after start date.
  • Florida Requirements Substance Use A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LADC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and unrestricted license.
  • Mental Health Florida Statutes Chapter 491: Governs LCSW, LMHC, and LMFT. These licenses are required for independent clinical practice and supervision in mental health settings.
  • LADC Cannot be used as a substitute for LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Psychologist for clinical director roles
  • Maine Requirements Substance Use 1. A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or a(n): a. Registered Nurse certified as a Psychiatric Nurse, b. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with appropriate specialization certification, c. Medical Doctor (M.D.), d. Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), e. Licensed Clinical Psychologist, f. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), g. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or h. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). 2. Any individual with a credential listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may be employed as clinical staff in a substance use disorder program only when that individual has completed one (1) year clinical experience in substance abuse treatment and a minimum of sixty (60) hours of alcohol and drug education within the last five (5) years. 3. Education accepted by the Department includes, but is not limited to, training and continuing education approved by the Maine State Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, 02-384 CMR Chapters 1-9. 4. Any of the credentials listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may forego additional education hours and experience if they possess a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) credential
  • Mental Health An active and unrestricted license of the following: a. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) b. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) c.   • New Jersey Requirement Substance Use 1. Be a New Jersey licensed psychologist with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who possesses a Certification of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders from the American Psychological Association, College of Professional Psychology, www.apa.org/, or is a Certified Clinical Supervisor by the Addictions Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey (APCBNJ), http://www.certbd.com/pdfs/initial-applications/ccs.pdf; 2. Be a New Jersey licensed clinical social worker with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a certified clinical supervisor by the APCBNJ, http://www.certbd.com/pdfs/initial-applications/ccs.pdf. 3. Be a New Jersey licensed professional counselor, or licensed marriage and family therapist, with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a certified clinical supervisor by the APCBNJ, http://www.certbd.com/pdfs/initial-applications/ccs.pdf. 4. Be a New Jersey LCADC with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who, in addition, holds a clinical master’s degree recognized by the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, Alcohol and Drug Committee, Division of Consumer Affairs, New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety. 5. Be a New Jersey licensed physician who is certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, or is a Board-certified psychiatrist, and has at least two years of supervisory experience in addiction services; N.J.A.C. 10:161A-1.8 6. Be a New Jersey licensed advanced practice nurse with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a clinical supervisor certified by the APCBNJ, http://www.certbd.com/pdfs/initial-applications/ccs.pdf; or 7. Have a doctoral degree in human services, mental health or social work with at least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Mental Health Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist, Psychiatrist (MD/DO), APN (Psychiatric) with five years’ experience in mental health services with two years supervisory experience.   • New Hampshire Requirements Substance Use A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) with an active and unrestricted license.
  • Mental Health Active, unrestricted, and issued by the New Hampshire Board of Mental Health Practice license in the following: a. Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) b.Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) c.Licensed Psychologist d.Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) e.Licensed Pastoral Psychotherapist
  • Colorado Requirements Substance Use A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), with an active and unrestricted license.
  • Mental Health Active, unrestricted, and issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) license in the following: a.Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) b.Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) c.Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) d.Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Texas Requirements Substance Use A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and unrestricted license.
  • Mental Health Must possess an active, unrestricted license as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LCDC, psychologist, or psychiatrist, in accordance with both the job and state regulations.
  • Wisconsin Requirements Substance Use A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) with an active and unrestricted license.
  • Mental Health A valid, active, and unrestricted Wisconsin license as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist, Psychiatrist (MD/DO), or Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) is required
  • Pennsylvania Requirements Substance Use A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and unrestricted license.
  • Mental Health An active and unrestricted clinical license such as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Psychologist

Responsibilities

  • Direct management and supervision of Primary Therapists, Clinical Supervisors, Case Managers, Group Facilitators and BHTs
  • Execute clinical philosophy in programming through education, training, and clinical supervision
  • Ensure that staff performance and client experience is consistent with highest standard of care
  • Perform direct care at all levels of care
  • Facilitate supervision meetings with clinical team
  • Conduct periodic group trainings with each respective department on specific areas of job performance and conduct
  • Assess therapists’ and case managers’ individual performance and address shortcomings and areas needing improvement
  • Coordinate with Clinical Training & Compliance Manager to address documentation deficiencies and non-performance with therapists & group facilitators
  • Observe groups by all facilitators
  • Develop training process for new personnel
  • Build a cohesive treatment team
  • Identify shortfalls in clients completing full continuum and implement corrective action
  • Interface with leadership/ownership on organization’s vision and objectives
  • Facilitate involuntary commitments (Marchman Acts & Baker Acts)
  • Develop internship programs at each level of care
  • Provides Supervision to Clinical Staff
  • Create Group Schedule
  • Assist with developing Program Design with Executive Director and CAO
  • Assist with interviewing for clinical positions and other executive team members
  • Manage budgets and stays within budgeting allocations and develop cost-effective methods to provide service
  • Maintain an effective and efficient daily staffing pattern within budgetary constraints
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing standards and Joint Commission
  • Complete Quality Audits & Client Surveys follow up
  • Attend quarterly meetings for the following committees: Clinical Peer Review Committee
  • Assist and comply with Joint Commission and DCF prep, and audits
  • Review admission assessments and appropriateness for treatment
  • Create therapist assignments
  • Conduct suicide screenings, assessments, and reassessments per protocol
  • Identified as the Audit Staff for Clinical and prepare for and sit through on-site audits
  • Ensure clinical staff meets educational/licensure requirements
  • Provide for staff development (i.e. supervision, training, education, etc.)
  • Attend clinical and administrative meetings to share information inter-departmentally.
  • Meet with clinical staff weekly.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of administrative and clinical policies and procedures, and the ability to communicate these clearly and accurately to staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to communicate these procedures clearly and accurately.
  • Display ability to direct and supervise Program activities.
  • Oversee the admission and/or patient intake process.
  • Adhere to the facility’s philosophy.
  • Maintain an effective clinical organizational structure and delegate appropriate authority for completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Function as leader of Clinical Staff Meetings.
  • Implement plans for improvement in performance.
  • If in Florida, complete IRAS responsibilities
  • Evaluate the quality of the program on an ongoing basis.
  • Expected to be on call and provide any assistance as needed for events and/or incidents after office hours
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
  • Follow Infection Control guidelines at all times.
  • Provide a safe and therapeutic environment to all staff and patients.
  • Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with the company’s policies and procedures on client privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a specific client information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other GRNH, LLC operations.
  • Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding GRNH, LLC’s policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
