About The Position

InGenesis is currently seeking a Clinical Director (Physician) to work with our client located in San Antonio, TX. In this role, you will provide on-site clinical leadership and oversight of all healthcare services within the facility, including medical, nursing, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care in alignment with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and organizational standards. The Clinical Director exercises independent clinical judgment and supports the coordination of care across multiple disciplines while working closely with department leaders. This position focuses on the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of clinical services at the site level. The Clinical Director operates under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), who retains responsibility for system-wide clinical strategy, policy development, and overall clinical governance. This position is dependent on contract award.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from: A U.S. medical school, or A foreign medical school providing education equivalent to U.S. standards as determined by the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation, and Permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) if applicable.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of post-residency experience providing direct patient care as a board-certified or board-eligible physician in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Preventive Health.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing clinical supervision and leadership to medical professionals and ancillary clinical staff.
  • Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice, maintained for the entire duration of employment.
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall clinical oversight of medical, nursing, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental services within the facility.
  • Lead and support clinical department heads, including the RN Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health Program Manager, Staff Physicians, Pharmacist, and Dental leadership (DDS).
  • Ensure alignment and coordination across all clinical service lines to support integrated, patient-centered care.
  • Establish and reinforce clinical standards, protocols, and expectations for care delivery across disciplines.
  • Support department leaders in addressing operational and clinical challenges impacting patient care.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs), ensuring adherence to scope of practice and evidence-based standards.
  • Provide indirect oversight of multidisciplinary clinical teams through department leadership.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management of clinical providers.
  • Address provider performance concerns in collaboration with Human Resources and executive leadership as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with National Detention Standards (NDS) 2025, American Correctional Association (ACA), and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations in accordance with the contract.
  • Conduct and oversee peer reviews, case reviews, and clinical audits to ensure quality and appropriateness of care.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols established by the CMO.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and audit readiness activities.
  • Ensure all clinical services and medical operations comply with contractual requirements outlined in the facility’s healthcare services agreement, including clinical performance standards, staffing expectations, and reporting obligations.
  • Monitor clinical performance indicators, quality metrics, and service-level requirements to ensure alignment with National Detention Standards (NDS) 2025, ACA standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Health Services Administrator (HSA) and organizational leadership to ensure clinical components of the contract are fully implemented and consistently maintained.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and submission of clinical documentation, reports, and data required for contract compliance, audits, and oversight activities.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and contract monitoring visits conducted by government agencies, accrediting bodies, or contract authorities.
  • Identify clinical compliance gaps, deficiencies, or risks and develop corrective action plans in coordination with the HSA, CMO, and interdisciplinary leadership.
  • Ensure clinical staff understand and adhere to contract-driven policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Provide clinical expertise in interpreting contract requirements and ensuring that clinical operations, protocols, and workflows align with contractual obligations.
  • Support continuous monitoring of clinical service delivery to ensure adherence to scope-of-work requirements, quality benchmarks, and patient care standards.
  • Provide direct patient care, as needed, within scope of licensure to support clinical operations.
  • Manage or provide consultation on complex or high-risk medical cases to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Ensure appropriate coordination of care across medical, behavioral health, and ancillary services.
  • Promote collaboration across nursing, behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, and medical teams.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review patient care, clinical outcomes, and operational challenges.
  • Partner with the Health Services Administrator (HSA) to align clinical care delivery with operational and administrative priorities.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for interdisciplinary teams and leadership.
  • Support efficient clinical workflows and patient care delivery in collaboration with operational leadership.
  • Monitor clinical performance trends and recommend improvements to the CMO and leadership team.
  • Assist in addressing clinical issues that impact staffing, operations, or patient outcomes.
  • Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and organizational initiatives.
  • Respond to clinical emergencies as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinical and organizational objectives.
