About The Position

The Clinical Director - Gastroenterology will have direct responsibility for the daily operations of assigned department(s). This includes overseeing daily practice operations, recruitment, retention, adherence to policies and procedures, supporting ongoing education of staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and fiscal responsibility of the unit/department. The role directs and coordinates effective operations of the unit/department with 24/7 responsibility to ensure continuity of care and oversight of other management functions. The director also directs and coordinates quality efforts of the unit/department to align with organizational goals, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care and interdepartmental collaboration of best practices. Responsibilities include overseeing the departmental budget for financial accountability, supporting a healthy work environment that engages staff and supports professional growth and development, facilitating ongoing education and ensuring clinical competency of nursing personnel, interviewing and onboarding clinical staff, and coordinating with the AVP of Nursing Operations on clinical departmental needs. The role also ensures patient data and medical records are maintained confidentially. The Mt. Laurel and Willingboro locations are outpatient units, while the Special Test Unit (STU) in the main hospital is an outpatient and inpatient unit, all serving the diagnostic and therapeutic needs of the Gastroenterology Division. Common procedures include upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. In the pulmonary suite (STU only), airway endoscopy procedures (bronchoscopy) are performed. All units are staffed by surgical schedulers, patient service representatives, nurses, and GI technicians. Anesthesiology is present for all GI procedures. Nurses rotate between admission (Pre op), procedure suites, recovery (PACU), and pre-admission testing, requiring familiarity with all roles and procedures in the GI Unit.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of nursing leadership experience
  • BSN required
  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse)
