About The Position

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Position Overview The dietitian is responsible for the clinical nutrition care of patients in the Acquired Brain Injury, Acute, Rehabilitation, Forensic, and Geriatric Programs. The dietitian plays a direct role in food service operations and is uniquely a member of both the Support Service and the Program teams. Under the general direction of the Manager of Support Services, the incumbent is responsible for the nutritional assessment and care plan for approximately 250 patients as well as training related to dietary and food services for program and support service staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree, Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetic or related area from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated.
  • Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program or practical training program including Master of Applied (Human) Nutrition programs, which has been accredited by the applicable certifying body required.
  • Incumbent must be currently registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba (CDM).
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive work relationships in a team environment under minimal supervision and the ability to make independent decisions is required.
  • Knowledge of mental health illnesses and their nutritional implications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical nutrition with focus on mental health and acquired brain injuries; management within a health care environment; and adult education are assets.
  • Experience working in a healthcare facility, preferably in mental health is an asset.
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada is desired.
  • Working experience using a dietary software, especially Computrition, is an asset.
