Clinical Dietitian
About The Position
The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center (JIRDC) in Morganton, North Carolina is an ICF certified facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities and provides comprehensive residential care to citizens from 34 counties in western North Carolina. Many of the residents have multiple medical and nutritional needs. Medical conditions that require the medical nutritional therapy performed and coordinated by this position include, but are not limited to: obesity, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus types I and II, dysphasia, other eating problems, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There are currently 40 residents that receive alternative feeding in thirteen homes on the JIRDC campus. This position provides a critical role in caring for these residents by providing nutritional consultation and training to all staff which includes providing employee training for food modification, portion control, safety, and sanitation. This position is also responsible for annual nutritional assessments, mealtime monitoring, updating diet cards, working in food production with the Food Service Director and Diet Clerk, and reviewing menus. This position will work with several different team members with a variety of professional backgrounds to provide nutritional support.
Requirements
- Master's degree in foods and nutrition or a related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR); OR
- Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, or related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and two years of experience in a clinical dietary setting.
