The Clinical Dietitian delivers comprehensive nutrition support and medical nutrition therapy aligned with patients' medical goals. This role involves educating patients about their diet and nutrition plans and acting as a key nutrition resource for medical and nursing staff, as well as other healthcare team members. The Clinical Dietitian collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy based on established standards of care and practice guidelines. Ambulatory Clinical Dietitians in specialty departments are responsible for the clinical nutrition care of patients with complex or specialized dietary needs. The Clinical Dietitian in specialty departments functions as a professional consultant and member of the health care team providing high quality, evidence-based nutrition care for their designated specific patient population. Acts as the primary advocate for patients' nutrition care, assessing and determining nutritional needs based on age and disease-specific requirements. Develops, implements, and monitors nutrition interventions to ensure their effectiveness and outcomes. Provide individual and/or group nutritional education to patients, families, and caregivers, serving as a resource for students, medical staff, and healthcare team members. Conducts nutrition assessments, evaluates the need for enteral and parenteral nutrition support, and communicates necessary dietary adjustments with physicians. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson's core values, maintaining regular, punctual attendance.
