About The Position

St. Luke's is seeking a full-time Clinical Dietitian to provide comprehensive, high-quality nutritional care to patients in hospital, clinic, and related settings. This role involves assessments, care planning, monitoring, and providing diet counseling and instructions to patients and their families. The dietitian will make recommendations to physicians and document assessments in the electronic medical record or on paper forms. Additional duties may include outpatient counseling, research, teaching, or community service, all while upholding St. Luke's University Health Network's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Active dietetic registration through Successful completion of a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD) plus Dietetic Internship (DI) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
  • Licensed as appropriate per state requirements.
  • Masters degree as required by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (effective Jan. 1, 2024) or bachelors degree grandfathered prior to this update.
  • Active dietetic registration.
  • For Pennsylvania: PA state license maintained through PA state nursing board.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, high quality nutritional care to patients in the hospital, clinics, and related entities.
  • Conduct assessments, care planning, monitoring, and diet counseling/instructions for patients/families.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to physicians.
  • Document assessments in the electronic medical record or on the network paper nutrition assessment form.
  • Perform outpatient counseling, research, teaching, or community service as needed.
  • Implement and conduct professional and business practices to uphold St. Luke’s University Health Network mission and values.
  • Demonstrate competence in assessment and treatment appropriate to the population served.
  • Acquire additional on-the-job skills and engage in continuing education to enhance knowledge and skills.

  • Independently prioritize and provide medical nutrition therapy according to theoretical concepts and evidence-based standards of care.
  • Perform nutrition screening, diagnosis, and intervention for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate all phases of nutrition care including assessment, care planning, monitoring, education, and counseling of hospitalized patients.
  • Perform duties in support of and in compliance with customer satisfaction initiatives, performance improvement plans, The Joint Commission, and other licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy for basic and complex patients in assigned areas.
  • Precept dietetic interns and actively participate in department area projects.
  • Suggest projects and outcome studies and participate in data collection.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team (e.g., rounds, consultations, teaching).
  • Participate in community activities.
  • Actively seek solutions to problems/systems/issues.
  • Complete assigned Performance Improvement Activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information and materials.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies regarding safety and reporting requirements.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, and co-workers.
