About The Position

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for assessing patients' nutritional status and providing evidence-based medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and nutrition education to support optimal health outcomes. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Clinical Dietitian develops and implements individualized nutrition care plans, documents patient progress in the electronic medical record, and contributes to quality patient care initiatives throughout the hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Completion of a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)-approved supervised practice dietetic internship program.
  • Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Professional, proactive, and collaborative approach to patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years of clinical nutrition experience in an acute care or hospital setting.
  • Experience with EPIC and/or CBORD systems.
  • Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications or specialized training in clinical nutrition.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and evaluate patients' nutritional status.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized medical nutrition therapy (MNT) interventions and nutrition education plans.
  • Document nutrition assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Monitor patient progress and modify nutrition care plans as clinically indicated.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Serve as an active member of hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Assist with the orientation, training, and mentorship of newly hired staff.
  • Participate in the clinical education and supervision of dietetic interns from affiliated academic programs.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional practice guidelines.
