About The Position

Reviews medical records, records diet histories, and assesses the nutritional status of patients. Provides education as appropriate to patients, family members, and/or caretakers regarding therapeutic diets, enteral nutrition, and parenteral nutrition. Monitors patient nutritional intake and tolerance. Assesses patients on parenteral and enteral feedings. Records patient assessments and reassessments on the electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in staff development and nutrition presentations within the organization as needed.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Dietetics/ Nutrition or related degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree required if registration obtained after January 1, 2024.
  • Active membership in a national professional organization preferred (i.e., Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, American Diabetes Association, National Kidney Foundation, American Association of Diabetes Educators) in order to maintain current knowledge and trends in the profession.
  • Active participation in the local and state organizations is encouraged.
  • Minimum of 10 hours of in-service presentations.
  • Four (4) years of experience as an acute clinical dietitian required.
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • BLS preferred.
  • At least one (1) specialty certification required and maintained if hired after January 1, 2025.
  • Master’s degree may be considered in lieu of certification for those who registered as a dietitian prior to 2024.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in nutrition teaching or counseling desired.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Preferred certifications include CNSC, CDCES, CSP, and CSPCC.
